Ararat Home Celebrates 70th Anniversary
The Ararat Home family came together on Saturday, May 11th, for a banquet celebrating the Home’s 70th anniversary. It was a beautiful celebration of 70 years of service and 70 years of excellence.
Ararat Home began in 1949 by a group of visionary leaders who set out on a mission to care for the Armenian elderly in their community. It was a noble mission indeed, but it was a grand idea with no clear path forward. Nevertheless, they planted a seed and nurtured it with love, hard work, and immense devotion. It is the fruits of their labors that Ararat Home celebrates today, 70 years later.
From those humble beginnings of seven residents, a house in the West Adams District of Los Angeles, and an army of volunteers, Ararat Home has blossomed to become a model and a leader in the long-term care industry.
Through its years of growth, Ararat Home has been a beacon of hope and comfort within the Armenian community. Countless residents have called Ararat Home “home”, and countless families have entrusted the care of their loved ones and found peace of mind here.
Throughout its 70 years, Ararat Home has successfully continued to carry out the vision of its founders. It has been and continues to be a safe haven for so many. It is a place of love and compassion, of dignity and comfort, of companionship and fulfillment. It is a place where residents receive comprehensive, quality care as well as a sense of belonging to a family larger than the one they have known before. It is a place for inspired aging, where residents’ health and happiness is of utmost concern, where they may thrive into their later years. It is a place fitting for the phrase, “Home is where the heart is!”
Indeed, the heart of the Armenian community has been with Ararat Home since its founding. And, it is the community that has sustained the Home for 70 years. This milestone celebrates not only the vision of the founders, but also the generosity and dedication of so many who have believed in this noble mission of care, have worked to put that mission into action, and have supported the Home throughout these 70 years.
At the heart of Ararat Home’s 70-year story is reciprocal love. For 70 years, Ararat Home has provided unparalleled service to the community and loving care to our elderly. And, for 70 years, FRIENDS OF THE HOME have shown their love and support for Ararat Home and their trust in the worthiness of its mission.
And so, Ararat Home’s success story of the past 70 years belongs to the entire Armenian community, and it is a source of OUR collective pride.
While it is a terrific achievement for an organization to actively exist and function in our community for seven decades, it is truly extraordinary for an organization to remain relevant, as Ararat Home has done, for seven consecutive decades.
This year, as we remember the past and reflect on this remarkable achievement, we ask you to consider the new possibilities on the horizon and look to building our future in order to ensure the legacy of this extraordinary organization, OUR Ararat Home.
